Follow your Heart......

Good Morning, STAMP-n-DOODLE challenge time again.

This week we have used a lovely classic image with the theme of Anniversaries in mind, or any celebration.
I wanted to keep the card on the simple side using elements that are elegant and complimented the era.
So lace and swirls and flowers all tie in together, to celebrate a milestone anniversay.

Card Recipe
Base card - DCWV 12x12" Bella Boutique stack, cut down to make 6x8" card
- matching Bella boutique swirls, flower, & sentiment sticker

Image printed onto K & Co. Elegance embossed frame paper

Flower - 3 layers made with: (1) Hero Arts paper flower (pastel collage); (2) Prima whie flower (3) wooden button by Prima

Background Stamps - Hero Arts script & a swirl

Lace & Ribbon from Stash

Ink - Antique Linen Distress stain around the frame, Pumice stone distress ink for background stamping.

What I though was quite nice with the DCWC Bella Boutique collection is that the accents on the base card, the flower sticker and the sentiment, are all flocked. So adding to the vintage feel of the card with the velvety texture. Hopefully you can just make this out in the photo below.

Blue Cameo Card

Cricut Imagine Pattern Cartridge - Elise
Cricut Cartridge - Heritage

This card originally came about because I designed the flourish frame on the Cricut Gypsy. I then continued with the Gypsy to ensure that all layers of central piece were in proportion with each other, before plugging it into the Cricut Imagine and cutting the elements from the patterned paper also printed on the Imagine. Using the pattern cartridge Elise, I could ensure the continuity of colour even though various patterns are used. I printed onto a lightweight, textured, off-white paper, and this gives a lovely soft vintage feel to the overall card.

To give the aged vintage feel, that I always associate with the era of the Cameo, I inked all paper edges with Tim Holtz Walnut stain distress ink.

Because I had printed onto a pliable paper I was able to make the rosette flowers with the gem centres.(I will post a demonstration of this next).

I have included 2 photos, because I am learning also how to get the best photos that make the most of the cards. I feel that the second photo is much better, having re-read the advice I was given by Dad and not using a flash. I still think the lighting is a bit bright, but there is a much greater sense of the dimension on the card.
Thanks for looking

Second of 3 - Father's Day, Tom's Creation

Cricut Imagine Cartridge, JT & Country Carnival
Ranger Alcohol Inks - Slate, Salmon, Latte & Silver blender

This card is entirely Tom's creation, and once he had been shown how to apply the inks he was well away. He even operated the cricut imagine (with a slight bit of driection from me) The shield and wings was cut from the JT cartridge, layered over 3 layers and was actually made into a badge (by attaching a safety pin to the back) because Tom was so pleased with it. I will have to make sure that his Dad does spend some time wearing it otherwise Tom will be offended (hehe!)

The lettering was cut from the Country Carnival cartridge, and coloured with patterns from the JT cartridge (all very clever stuff).

Distressed Happy Birthday

Card recipe
Paper Artsy stamps
Distress Inks (pumice stone, victorian velvet, crushed olive, aged mahogany)
Alcohol Inks (meadow, cranberry, sandal)
Distress Stickles (old paper, frayed burlap, peeled paint)
DCWV adhesive ribbon
Text peel off
Dragonfly brad
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Karen Fosters scrappers floss

To make the flower I stamped out the 2 flowers paper artsy stamps with the distress inks and cut them out. Because they are 2 slightly different sizes they nest together really well. I distressed each cut flower further with the pumice stone ink (a really useful colour that ages paper really well, see the embossing on the card for an idea). I then cut a slit about 1.5cm at the natural places to create the flower petals before curling them slightly with scissors and fingers, to give dimension. To layer i placed the stamped flowers on top of each other along with a peach prima fabric flower (from my stash), a pink button and tied it all together with a few lengths of Karen Fosters scrappers floss (tinted with aged mahogany distress ink)

This has turned out to be one of my favourite cards I have made recently. It incorporates most of the new 'goodies' I bought from from recent trip to the Make It craft show in Farnborough. It was the first time that Mum and I had visited one of these much talked about shows, and it lived up to expectations. We met up with 2 seasoned show attendees (mums crafty sisters) and had a whole day of pure self indulgent shopping!!
