Pink Ribbon - Hope

As it is Breast Cancer awareness month, I wanted to share a couple of cards that I have made. It is such a worthy cause, and when you speak to people you realise how many people are touched by this. The constant awareness and advances in research are making the lives of those affected so much more helpful.

These are a bit of a departure for me, as these cards are the first I have made with a digital stamp. I have to say thank you to Deena who drew these beautiful images and tempted me away from my conventional stamps. Check out her blog, it is a beautiful and offers me lots of inspiration. Deena will kindly be donating funds from the sale of this image to cancer research.

I thought this image was very feminine and very pretty.

Silver Birch and sentiment

Just a quick card with a new set of Clarity stamps that arrived this week. I have been practising alot with the brayering technique that Barbara Gray teaches and demonstrates. I follow the online lessons that she gives and thoroughly enjoy them and learn so much in a relatively short space of time.

 I am hoping that with practice it will become almost second nature to me because the effects that it is capable of producing are stunning. So as I was saying, if I keep practicing I'm hoping that I can start to develop a style of my own and give all of my stamps a new lease of life.

Having said that however the range of designs available from Clarity Stamps is gorgeous and I'm sure a few here and there will be added to my collection (I currently have my eye on a carousel horse !)

Lori's Garden & Elegant Edges Combined

I rarely make duplicate cards, but having made a set of 9 handmade cards to give as a gift to a neighbour I included childrens cards that I was so pleased with, I felt I should remake them.

They were all made using the same dimensions from different elements on the regular Cricut cartridge Elegant Edges, and printed using papers from the Cricut Imagine Lori's Garden cartridge. The stamped images coloured with watercolour pencils and embellished with either stickles clear glitter or Rangers Glossy accents.

The card bases were cut from 12x12 cardstock, having welded 2 of the 'book' layers from the Elegant edges cartridge together. The shaped theme of each card was continued in each of the corresponding layers.

Mums Cards

When I started this blog, I said it was to be all about sharing our crafty work with each other. So here is a sample of some of Mums cards. I think this first card is one of my all time favourites using an embossing folder for the background and Tim Holtz ink to create the 'wood' effect - a perfect setting for the decoupage toadstool.

Mums confidence has grown over the months. As time has gone on and she has had more time to play, practice and experiment you can definitely see that she is gaining more confidence and experience (though I bet she is shaking her head as she reads this ! hehe)

I am slightly annoyed with myself because I thought I had safely saved all the card photos that Mum had sent to me, but who knows where they have ended up in the depths of the computers memory - they have been some really pretty creations. Never mind, I have a safe area to store them now, and will update you every now and again.

Robot birthday Greetings

This card (well the Robots at least) were made in duplicate, you can see Mum crew here too. Isn't fascinating to see how the 2 sets have different characters, even though the same colours were used. Mum things her Robots are a bit more suited to a Halloween set. What do you think?

 I had a video call with my Mum in Spain, and we had our version of a 'crafty get together'.
Amazingly it works really well (dependant on the Internet connection) and we are able to have a good natter, until the early hours, and complete a project at the same time.

It is a great way to be close with family, even though you are in different parts of the world. We really enjoy it, and it gives us both a reason to sit down to create and share.

Brayered Birthday Card

Hi, although I have not posted in a fair while, I have still been making. Now that I am getting the school routine running well, I am planning to post again on a much more regular basis - and I have a lot to share with you.
This card is for an Aunt of mine who has never forgotten my birthday, and my family's in years. This year she is celebrating a special birthday.
I have brayered the background with Tim Holtz distress inks and over stamped with some new tree and foliage stamps from Clarity Stamps.

Happy Birthday Tom

Hi again, the summer holiday has meant that I have neglected my blog for a bit. Tom has 10 weeks off school, and at the beginning it loomed ahead of us - can you believe now that he only has 10 days left. He can't and the thought makes him very glum.
I do remind him howver of the fun we have had visiting friends in Wales. A fantastic time in Spain with Grandparents, and now his birthday tomorrow and a week in Mallorca to top it all off. Not bad going really is it ?!!!

Anyway to the subject in hand, this is a quicky post because we are off to the airport in a few hours and I realised that I had not made Toms birthday card. snorkelling is his main topic of conversation this summer, but unfortunatly I have nothing related. So a beachy surfing theme was the next best thing, and I am pleased with how it turned out. Being 10 (arghh into double figures) he thinks he is all grown up, so hopefully this will help him on his way out of younger boyish things.
